Meet two of your hosts, Ravi and Gabba-Ji, ready to lead you on trekking + yoga retreats to Asia. Gabba-Ji’s 13 years of yoga study/teaching experience and Ravi’s 25 years of Yoga Asana, Philosophy, and Ayurveda practice ensure you’re in good hands throughout. A passion for environmentally- and socially-conscious adventures inspired Gabba-Ji to create unique trekking and yoga tours with positive social impact.
Retreats focus on the four pillars of self-study, helping out, connecting with nature, and sustainability. Treks may include hiking to a glacial mountain lake, making a difference at a local school, connecting with people from all over the world, and of course yoga and meditation.
Stay in eco-conscious hospitality establishments and camp in the great outdoors with the comforts of a cedar fire, cozy tents and blankets. Enjoy meals made with local, organic ingredients and feel deeply welcome with kind, loving hospitality from your hosts.
"The experience that my trek offers is based on four pillars: Self-Study, Helping Out, One with Nature, and Sustainability. These core values are embedded in the journey, and emerge as learnings about the practice of Yoga, about Tibetan Buddhism, about Kareri Village School Children, as well as what we learn about ourselves." -Gabba-Ji
Green and social good practices include:
Hire local guides for trekking.
Organic ingredients used to prepare three home-cooked meals per trek day.
Partnership with My Green Trip that provides eco-friendly trash pickup kits used to proactively pick up trash found while trekking.
Volunteer work at local schools to teach children about zero waste, how to properly dispose of garbage, and other ecological practices.
Camping to reduce consumption of water and electricity.
Water bottles filled directly from mountain springs.
Tour co-pilots are carefully selected, dear friends of Gabba-Ji who are eager to educate their local culture about zero waste and to educate their visitors about local culture and tradition.
Staff are paid exactly the rate they request, which is well above average. They are excellent role models and trekkers leave with new local friends by the end.
Upward mobility opportunities and owner accessibility for staff.
Educate staff on sustainability.
Analyze social/environmental impact of business investments.
